As the Headteacher of Greenfields Primary School, it is with very warm wishes I welcome you to our school.

We’re ready to take you on a journey… because the world is waiting for you…

At Greenfields we are building in our children an appreciation for the wider world; to wonder at incredible sights, plan for grand adventures and showing children the endless possibilities that their future has to offer. Children at Greenfields are given the opportunities, skills and knowledge to be curious, enabling them to ‘dream big.’

Children at Greenfields develop an understanding even from the earliest age, that all they do, learn and experience can lead towards big aspirations; that they will be given the confidence and courage to know they have a choice in their future; that they have developed a wider sense of responsibility to the environment and society in which they live and those beyond their local experience.

Our curriculum has been carefully designed taking into account the needs of the children of Wideopen; it is bespoke, progressive and builds towards immersing and developing in children the knowledge, skills and aptitude they need to take advantage of opportunities and experiences in later life.

We understand the importance of broadening and widening children’s ambitions by providing a wide range of opportunities to nurture, develop and stretch pupils’ talents and interests, from music tuition and sports coaching to drama groups and outdoor adventures.

We have a sharp focus on ensuring our youngest children are given the very best start to their learning journey; we prioritise giving children both the skills and the self belief they need to be successful, not to mention lots of laughing (and muddy puddles) along the way!

Our web-site should give you a taste of the exciting and innovative work that goes on in our school, as well as providing regular updated information; please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any other information.

I hope that the information you see and read inspires you to visit us and find out a little bit more, maybe even allow us to share your learning journey with you. We would be delighted to show you around our school and answer any questions you might have. If you would like to organise a visit to meet us and see what we can offer you and your child please email:

See the magic…

When I told the staff we were going to buy bikes for the children to use at school there were some sideways glances… “30 children on a bike at once?” …were the cries. But… as always, the staff took hold of this idea and went for it. At the end of each day where there […]

…when I grow up…

I wonder how many of the ‘grown-ups’ would say that they don’t actually feel very grown up at all. It’s a question we often ask children… “what do you want to be when you grown up?” Quite often, children are very quick to answer. This week we have seen our children immersed in things that […]

Don’t forget to make your bed…

I have found myself listening to far more radio of late. There’s something quite relaxing about listening to someone talking and knowing that you’re not expected to talk back! This week I heard a story about an American Admiral who was giving a speech to a group of university graduates. He told them that to […]

..the first time…

Today marks the end of our first week in school. It also marks a very special first… this afternoon as we came together in our school hall for the first time since March 2020, it struck me that some of the children sitting before me hadn’t ever been in a whole school assembly before; an […]
