Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

Mrs Gemma Robertson - Headteacher
welcome back
The new academic year has got off to a brilliant start. The children from pre-school to Year 6 have settled back into school life amazingly well and their behaviour in the classroom and at playtimes and lunchtimes has been remarkable. We are very proud of them all.

Planting, Growing and Cooking

Our reception children planted carrots during transition week and look what they discovered last week... carrots! The children couldn't believe it. They dug them up and made carrot soup which they all enjoyed, so much so many of the children wanted seconds.

We've only been back in school for a week and a half, yet the children have already learnt so much. From skills in art, to concrete timelines in history, from hockey and multi-skills with JJ Coaching to working as part of a team.

We teach the children every day that they don't need to be perfect to be the amazing children they are. They just need to try their best and be kind and caring.
Book
Auggie wants to be an ordinary ten-year-old. He does ordinary things - eating ice cream, playing on his Xbox. He feels ordinary - inside. But ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren't stared at wherever they go.

Born with a terrible facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life. Now, for the first time, he's being sent to a real school - and he's dreading it. All he wants is to be accepted - but can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, underneath it all?
Year 1

Year 1

Year 1 have been busy this week. They used play doh to retell the story of the 'Gingerbread Man', enjoyed reading independently and practiced their number formation in the sand. They also had great fun making their very own gingerbread men and I must say they looked delicious.
