Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

mental health week
It's been Children's Mental Health Week this week. This years theme is 'Let’s Connect' which is about making meaningful connections. People thrive in communities, and this connection is vital for our wellbeing. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of wellbeing.
For Children’s Mental Health Week 2023, children have been encouraged to connect with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways.

We've been very active at Greenfields over the past few weeks. Gymnastics, skipping, swimming, Forest School and outdoor play are only some of the active things our children have been enjoying.

Papa Troll set reception a challenge this week; following a map to find their new text, 'What the Ladybird Heard'. They had so much fun!

Our New Play Equipment

Our new play equipment has been going down a storm with the children. Thank you for encouraging your children not to play on the equipment before and after school; it is much appreciated.

Football Tournament

Some of our KS2 children went to Cochrane Park this week to play in a tournament set up by Newcastle United Foundation. They did amazingly well and we are very proud of them.

Bake sale
Early Years are starting a period of fundraising to raise funds to develop their outdoor area. This will start on Monday 13th February with a bake sale. Early Years will be selling cakes at breaktime for a cost of 50p. If your child would like to buy a cake please send them into school with 50p. The cakes will be 'free from' to ensure those children with any allergies or dietary requirements don't miss out.

Book
Clink! Clankety-bang! Thump-whirr! That's the sound of Papa at work. Although he is an inventor, he has never made anything that works perfectly, and that's because he hasn't yet found a truly fantastic idea. But when he takes his family fishing on Lake Michigan, his daughter Virena asks, Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a fish?--and Papa is off to his workshop. With a lot of persistence and a little bit of help, Papa--who is based on the real-life inventor Lodner Phillips--creates a submarine that can take his family for a trip to the bottom of Lake Michigan.

Warm welcome

Warm Welcome

Every Monday morning at St Columbas Parish Church in Wideopen between 10am and 12pm, the Church hold a 'warm welcome'. This means that the Church is open to anyone who would like to go along for a hot drink and a scone or a piece of cake. There are craft activities to take part in or if you'd prefer you can simply read a newspaper or do a crossword in the quiet of the Church hall.

Reminder

Please be reminded that the school day starts at 8.40am for all of our children. The children will be taken into school at this time so children must be on the yard before this.
