Reading Session for Early Years and Key Stage 1

On Wednesday 5th October, Miss Evans and Mrs Graham are holding a reading session in school 9am-10am for Early Years and Key Stage 1 families. During the session you will find out about how your child learns to read through phonics, look at the books and strategies we use in school and find out how to foster their love of reading. If you can attend, you don't need to book, just make your way to the school office for 9am on the day, where you will be shown into the school hall where the session will take place.

During the week beginning the 3rd October 2022, we are really excited to be holding a 'World of Work' week. We are really keen to showcase the wide variety of opportunities that are available to our children when they grow up. Julie Scott, our colleague from North Tyneside Learning Trust, will be running workshops for every year group that week.
On Friday 7th October at 9:15am we are going to hold a coffee morning for parents & carers. This is where we would love you to help us if you can!
We would like to use the coffee morning as an opportunity for parents/carers to talk to our Year 6 pupils about their jobs or career paths in an informal way. We would like to welcome all parents, not just those of Year 6 pupils. If you are happy to come in for a cup of tea or coffee and answer some of our children's questions about the world of work, please email us on parentsandcarers@greenfieldsprimary.org.uk
We always love to hear about our parents & carers' jobs, so if that particular date doesn't work, but you'd like to come and speak to our children at another time, please also let us know via email.

Clubs

Our clubs start next week. Thank you to all of you who have signed your children up to the clubs that are available. There are still a few places left in some of our clubs, so if you haven't already or if you want to get your child booked onto another club, please go onto the School Gateway and have a look. It would be great if all of our clubs are full.

The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 11.00am. This day is a bank holiday to mark the last day of the period of national mourning, therefore Greenfields Community Primary School will be closed on this day as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

the lost words
All over the country, there are words disappearing from children's lives. These are the words of the natural world -- Dandelion, Otter, Bramble and Acorn, all gone. The rich landscape of wild imagination and wild play is rapidly fading from our children's minds.
The Lost Words stands against the disappearance of wild childhood. It is a joyful celebration of nature words and the natural world they invoke. With acrostic spell-poems by award-winning writer Robert Macfarlane and hand-painted illustration by Jackie Morris, this enchanting book captures the irreplaceable magic of language and nature for all ages.
Open evening
We need you
Did you come to Greenfields Primary School as a child? Did your parents, aunties and uncles or family friends? If so, we need your help. We want to create a display in school to show the children all of the amazing things those who came to Greenfields have achieved. We would love to hear about you... what job do you have? What are you most proud of? If you can help us, can you email parentsandcarers@greenfieldsprimary.org.uk with your name, your achievement and a picture (if possible).
