World Nursery Rhyme Week at Greenfields

Humpty
Children at Greenfields have been taking part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. Nursery Rhymes play an important part in child hood development as well as being lots of fun.
The children have been learning all about those classic rhymes that can get lost in a world of ipads and technology.
Look at the fun our Nursery children had trying to help out poor old Humpty Dumpty!

Muddy Bairns

Last week we shared with you our exciting news about a new childcare provision we will be offering in school after Christmas in response to many families who have requested more flexible childcare and alternative ways to access our Early Years provision.

We have had lots of interest, so please don't leave it too late to get in touch to secure additional sessions.

Muddy Bairns will be offering both funded and paid for nursery and childcare places for children who are 2, 3 and 4 years old through the introduction of our unique outdoor nursery provision held here at Greenfields.

Giving

Can you help us?

As we approach the festive period, this year you may find yourself doing more online shopping than you have before.

We have signed our school up to the charity The Giving Machine which allows you to raise free donations every time you shop online with over 2,000 retailers (including Amazon) by going through The Giving Machine website... there's no catch, it really is that simple.

Set up a Giver account on The Giving Machine and then just visit The Giving Machine website, desktop reminder or mobile app and click on the retailer link you want to shop at. Purchases generate a donation which will show on your account summary once processed by our Machine.

Thank you!

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2020 was: United Against Bullying.

Across the school we have talked about what bullying is and the different forms of bullying. we talked about ways to help people and in every class we've thought about ways to be kind.

Year 3

Y31
Children in Year 3 have been poets this week writing their own poetry after studying a collection of poems by Rachel Rooney. The poems are all about children in a classroom. Our Year 3's have written poems all about themselves- aren't they fabulous!

This week in science the children built and labelled a model of the digestive system. I was very impressed with the accuracy of the diagrams they made. Well done Year 4- we hope it didn't put you off your dinner!

Reading recommendation

Mrs Armer and Mrs Turnbull in Nursery have done our reading recommendation for this week. Classic Nursery Rhymes illustrated by Dorothy M Wheeler.
"We have been looking at nursery rhymes this week, but this book is so beautifully illustrated it would be perfect for all ages. We looked at the characters in nursery rhymes and found out that quite often they had to #bebrave!"
