Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

Mrs Gemma Robertson - Headteacher

Headteacher's Message

Dear families,

Although this half term has been a short one, it's been jam packed with trips, visitors and Easter activities, not to mention all of the learning the children have been doing. Thank you to all of you who could make it to our parent's evening and to our celebration of learning events that have taken place this week - the children and teachers love to show off their hard work!

Our Whole School attendance figure for 2023-24 this year so far is 93.3%. This is just below the National Average which is currently 94.3%. Thank you to all parents and carers who continue to support the best attendance. This makes such a difference to opportunities for pupils. Please continue to get in touch if you are experiencing any difficulties with attendance or you are worried about your child’s attendance- we are here to help. Let's continue to work hard to push our attendance to be at National Average.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter break and we look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 15th April 2024.

    Kindest wishes

    Mrs Robertson

This half term all year groups have been cooking in D&T and they've loved it. Here's Year 5 enjoying the delicious pizzas they made.

    Easter Party & Craft Day

All I can say is wow! The children had the best day today, celebrating Easter with an Easter disco and lots of Easter crafts. They have played games, danced, won prizes and taken part in lots of lovely craft activities. Such a lovely way to end a half term where the children have worked incredibly hard.

    Book
Award-winning author and illustrator Ashley Spires has created a picture book about an unnamed girl and her very best friend, who happens to be a dog. The girl has a wonderful idea. She is going to make the most MAGNIFICENT thing! She knows just how it will look. She knows just how it will work. All she has to do is make it, and she makes things all the time. Easy-peasy!? But making her magnificent thing is anything but easy, and the girl tries and fails, repeatedly. Eventually, the girl gets really, really mad. She is so mad, in fact, that she quits. But after her dog convinces her to take a walk, she comes back to her project with renewed enthusiasm and manages to get it just right.

    Attendance & Punctuality

    Punctuality-matters
Attendance and punctuality really do matter.
It is well known that good school attendance affects a child’s success in learning and helps to fulfil their potential and give a chance of a better future. Please take some time to read the parent/carer leaflet that was emailed to you this half term and take note of the number of hours missed learning that occurs when children don't attend school or when they are late for school.
Please remember that if you are struggling to get your child into school, ring or email us; we will come to your home to help you to get your child into school.

We've had a brilliant Easter in school. The Easter egg competition was a huge hit and we were blown away with the amount of entries and the quality of them. The school council had the very hard decision of picking a winner from each class; who are listed below. They could have picked anyone as the standard was so high.

    Pre-school: Logan
    Nursery: Jacob
    Reception: Joey
    Year 1: Frankie
    Year 2: Charlie
    Year 3: Kacey
    Year 4: Rubi
    Year 5: Jace
    Year 6: Archie M
    Eggs
The winner of the 'Guess the Number of Eggs' competition is:
    Evelyn 1BA

Every half term we have an 'All Star Prize Award' to recognise those children who always make good choices, always work hard and are always a good friend. The children are selected by their class teacher and entered into a draw. This half term the winner of the All Star Prize is:
    Thomas in 4DL

Reeds Rein Estate Agents gave our children the opportunity to enter into an Easter colouring competition and three of our children were selected as winners, receiving an Easter Egg as their prize:

    Nursery: Layla
    Year 2: Georgie
    Year 3: Ruby
