Headteacher's Message
What a fantastic turnout we had this week for our 'Celebration of Learning Events'; it was lovely to see so many of you in school celebrating your child's learning and completing an activity with them.
|
This half term saw every year group visit a different place of worship. At Greenfields we believe this is a crucial part of our RE curriculum for the following reasons:
|
- to ensure that our children develop an early awareness of their own culture and that of others
- so that children develop tolerance and understanding of different cultures and beliefs by visiting a place of worship in their community.
- to ensure that our children have an understanding of other beliefs and respect for them
Next half term, children from Year 1 - Year 6 will be visiting a different National Trust site linked to our Geography fieldwork unit and we can't wait!

As always we've had a busy half term and the children have shown resilience, hard work and maturity, facing the challenges we give them head on. Next half term is no different and we know that with your support the children will continue to emulate our school values and follow the school rules.
|

Year 5 Residential to Dukeshouse Wood
|
|
|
Some of our Year 5 children went on a residential trip to Dukeshouse Wood this half term. They had an amazing time taking part in a huge range of activities, including, climbing, zip wire, fire lighting, den building, fencing and so much more.
|
|
|
|
Year 3 Forest School
|
Year 3 have been enjoying their Forest School sessions this half term and as you can see they have certainly been making the most of it.
|
|

This is a book that celebrates the spirit of curiosity and encourages kids to courageously ask their hard questions "Why can't people live on the moon?" "Can I be president when I grow up?" "What makes a person good?" These are just some of the questions that come from one little girl with twinkling eyes and a curious mind. When the girl finds that her big questions make some people uncomfortable, she stops. But then she learns that her questions can solve problems and that asking questions is how we learn and grow.

Muddy Bairns Open Evening

Last Wednesday, we held an open evening for our Muddy Bairns provision. It was a great success with many people attending.

Our Ready for the World Awards celebrate when children, in Year 1 - Year 6, have demonstrated outstanding characteristics which will enable them to become successful learners of the future. Over the past two weeks those children who have been awarded a Ready for the World Award are:

Attendance & Punctuality

Attendance and punctuality really do matter.
|
|
It is well known that good school attendance affects a child’s success in learning and helps to fulfil their potential and give a chance of a better future. Please take some time to read the parent/carer leaflet that was emailed to you this half term and take note of the number of hours missed learning that occurs when children don't attend school or when they are late for school.

Please remember that if you are struggling to get your child into school, ring or email us; we will come to your home to help you to get your child into school.
