Be Brave
This half term we have moved onto the second of our school values
confront your fears and take a chance ~ mistakes are the best lessons
This value is represented by the image of the footsteps in our new school badge; it reminds the children that to take a step into the unknown, although sometimes daunting, can lead us all to the best rewards. This half term we focus on developing resilience in our children. At Greenfields this is not so much ‘taught’ as it is developed. The children know that making mistakes are fundamental to their learning and they are not deterred by them.
Our curriculum is linked through concepts which allows for staff to ensure that the subjects taught in school are providing children with the very best examples of the discipline. This half term, the concepts linking our subjects of History and Geography are:
KS1 ~ consequence, mistake, strength
LKS2 ~ power and conflict
UKS2 ~ adversity and protest
You can keep up to date with your child’s learning by following their year group on Twitter, adding us on Instagram or in EYFS and Year 1 through Seesaw.

Remembrance Day Service
We will be holding our Remembrance Day commemoration on Thursday 11th November at 11am on the KS2 yard; we would like to invite to you to attend this very special service.
Parents, carers and families who would like to attend our service, please enter the KS2 from the bottom gate which will be open from 10:50am. The service will start at 11am prompt.
Once again this year, our children have been writing messages of hope on our remembrance poppies. We will be stringing them from our trees along the school drive- they really were a magical sight so do make sure you get the chance to see them before the weather gets the better of them.
If you would like us to hang a remembrance poppy for you or a member of your family, please send you message to:

Children in Need
This year we will be celebrating Children in Need on Friday 19th of November. We are asking that children bring in an old t-shirt, shirt or jumper the week commencing 15th November for them to decorate in class. We will be having a competition for the spottiest t-shirts... the dottier the better!

Panto visit
Thank you for the overwhelming response to volunteers to the Panto, resulting in us having to pull names out of a hat. Emails have gone out to all those family members whose names came out of the hat and will be accompanying us on our first ever whole school visit to the panto at The Theatre Royal in Newcastle. Please can you ensure that you have paid for you ticket via the school gateway app. We will be holding an information session for all adults attending on Monday 22nd November. You must attend this session if you will be accompanying us as it is a chance for staff to talk with you about our risk assessment.
You will be receiving a letter which details the individual arrangements for your child’s class.
It is going to be a really exciting event… we can’t wait!

Be Brave
Think about confronting your fears and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. It might feel tough at first, but we can all take a chance and confront our fears.

Reading recommendation
An inspiring picture book affirmation about having courage even in difficult times, because some days, when everything around you seems scary, you have to be brave.

Communication with staff
Please be reminded that after 6pm, class teachers will not respond to emails or requests for information on their year group emails, on Seesaw or Google classroom. Many of our staff are in school incredibly early in the morning, and so it is really important that they have time to rest and recuperate in the evening.

If you need to tell us about an urgent issue, please email:

Thank you for you cooperation and understanding.

Thank you!

Thank you to all of our families who walked, sponsored or partied with us last term. The GFPTA have been working hard to think of ways to raise funds for our school and your support never goes unnoticed; we really are very grateful for every penny, so once again, our heartfelt thanks to you all.
In the last month the GFPTA have donated £2800 to the school fund.
If you think you would like to be part of this very special group, no previous experience is required, just a good sense of humour and your time is all we need! Please email: gfpta@greenfieldsprimary.org.uk
From the Sponsored Walk we raised an amazing £1667.50 and from the Halloween Disco we raised £518.30 which will fund the vast majority of the transport for our whole school panto visit at the end of this month.
A very big well done to Emma in Year 6 who won the 'Guess the Spiders and Bats in the Jar' competition!
