**Recover**
**Restore**
**Rediscover**
You will have seen in the news that schools are required to have in place plans to support children's return to school and to help them catch up any learning they missed during school closure.
At Greenfields we are calling this curriculum:
Recover ~ ...the process of becoming well again…
Restore ~ ...to return to a previous position…
Rediscover ~ ...to discover something lost or forgotten…
We are committed to ensuring that your children return to school both physically and emotionally well; supported and challenged to fall into the ‘new normal’ routines in school with respect to behaviour and attitudes; have access to relearn forgotten content, supported to over-learn and become ‘more than fluent’ in key areas of the curriculum, such as early reading, which will in turn unlock the breadth and depth of the full national curriculum and beyond both in this academic year and in the future.
Our Recover, Restore and Rediscover Curriculum statement refers to the way in which both we have designed the content of children’s learning as they return to school and how we intend to deliver this learning. We are drawing on the very best research around supporting children’s mental health and well being alongside evidence based research for academic catch up.

Next week, we will be sending home information to parents and carers that details the support you will receive at home if we should need to send a class or part of the school home for a longer period of time.

Parent/Carer Survey Last week we sent a survey to you all to ask for your thoughts around returning the school. We have had some time to look through your comments and feedback- thank you to all those parents and carers who took the time to complete it. You will be receiving today a letter with some of the FAQs as a result of the survey. We hope that it will help to clarify some of the key procedures in and around school for you all so that we can work together effectively.

Localised Lockdown FAQs
We have sent home some information this evening that gives the detail of the procedures now in place across our region. It is really very important that we all stick to the guidance issued. Please remember we have our drop in breakfast provision from 8:15 am every morning where your child can have breakfast for 50p.

YEAR 3
In Year 3 we have been finding out about the amazing Amelia Earhart. We have been using our reading skills to look at retrieving some facts about this amazing lady. Did you know, she was the first woman to travel across the Atlantic Ocean by plane? #amazing

YEAR 4
In our geography lessons we looked at amazing rivers in the world and tied this in with the journey of a river. We started by looking at the vocabulary that was new to us; we ended the week by using what we had learned by answering some questions which made us think really hard.

A message from North Gosforth Academy

North Gosforth Academy Open Evening
It was always my intention to hold a traditional open evening to give prospective parents and students the opportunity to see our wonderful school in action. In the past it has always been both popular and well attended. However, due to the increasing covid-19 infection rates I have decided it is in everybody’s best interest to do things slightly differently this year. Therefore, our open evening will still be going ahead at 5.30pm on Wednesday 23rd September, albeit virtually. During the open evening there will be presentations from key leaders in the school and we will still deliver all of the information that parents require. Of course the most important people to hear from are our students and we have a number of students who have volunteered as ambassadors for North Gosforth Academy. If you would like to attend the open evening please register your interest on the school website with your email address and we will send you a link to a Microsoft Teams live event https://www.northgosforthacademy.org.uk/year-6-open-evening You can download Microsoft Teams for free to your desktop, tablet or mobile: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/download-app. The invite that we send out early next week will contain all of the instructions on how to join the open evening event. However, there is nothing like seeing our school in action and I would still like to offer parents the chance to have a personalised visit and tour during the school day. Visitors will have to wear masks and adhere to social distancing when they walk round the school and we, unfortunately, will not be able to enter classrooms. However, you will still be able to see the ethos and culture that we have at our school and we are keen to show it off. The school tour must be a pre-arranged appointment. If you wish to make an appointment for a school tour please contact Beth Davies on beth.davies@northgosforth.co.uk or 0191 236 1707.
