Dear families,

Although this half-term is a short one, we've got lots to pack in. Year 6 have their KS2 SATs next week. They are feeling a bit nervous, but we know they will all do amazingly well. Please note that the office will be closed from approximately 9.20am until 11.15am Monday to Thursday next week. Please ensure you are on time as there will be no one in the office to let you into school.

Year 2 are also completing their 'Secret Agent Training' during the last week of this half-term. On Thursday night, they complete their mission by taking part in lots of fun activities followed by a sleepover at school.

Year 1 have their first class assembly on Friday 23rd May at 2.15pm. This is an opportunity for them to share their learning with you and I know they can't wait.

Clubs start next week and there are lots on offer, from football to crafts to roller skating; there's lots for everyone to enjoy. There are still spaces left in some clubs, so if you want to book your child into one, please contact the school office, who will tell you what is available.

Thank you to everyone who is parking safely around the school site and the surrounding areas. Please can I remind you that the accessible parking bays are only to be used by those people who have a blue badge. If you haven't been issued with a blue badge, you should not be parking in these bays.

Our whole school attendance figure for 2024-25 is currently 94.6%. This is in line with the National Average. Thank you to all parents and carers who continue to support the best attendance. We have seen a lot of improvement in individual attendance, and we see the difference this makes to pupils both academically and pastorally. Please continue to get in touch if you are experiencing any difficulties with attendance, or you are worried about your child’s attendance - we are here to help.

We break up for May half-term on Friday 23rd May, returning to school on Monday 2nd June.

Best wishes,

Mrs Gemma Robertson

Forest School and the Great Outdoors

Our Year 2 children have been enjoying Forest School every Wednesday afternoon for the past 5 weeks. They've taken part in lots of different activities, including den building, exploring, cooking by the fire and drinking hot chocolate.

Some of our youngest children take advantage of our Forest School every week. Our nursery children enjoyed a bug hunt this week; they found lots of interesting minibeasts and loved every second of it.

Getting Out And About ...

At Greenfields we understand the importance of having experiences outside of school. In April, our Astronomy club had the opportunity to spend a day at Kielder Observatory with real-life astronomers. They leant about the planets, stars and constellations and got to look through state-of-the-art telescopes.

As you will be aware, we are taking part in Hits Radio, 'Walk Around The World' to raise money for Cash for Kids. Our Year 1 and 2 children have already completed their walk, which was followed by a picnic and play in Lockey Park. The rest of the school are going to be completing their walk challenge over this half-term. If you would like to donate, you can do so by clicking on the following link:

Our Winning Football Team

{item_alt_tag}

Greenfields Football Team were amazing this academic year. Their hard work and determination paid off, meaning they ended the season winning the North West League. We are so proud of them all. The next step for the team is the County Championship Tournament in the summer term.

A huge thank you and well done to Mr Lumsdon and Mr Watson who are equally as passionate as the boys and have been amazing coaches to them.

Expanding Early Years Provision

We are thrilled to announce that we were successful in our bid for funding in order to expand our Early Years Provision. We are currently working hard to put things in place and renovate the spaces so that we are ready to open at the start of September. If you know of anyone who is looking for term-time childcare for children aged 9 months plus, please direct them to our school office.
