Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be original, be brave and be bold.

Mrs Ele Dobson- Headteacher

Are you ...Ready for The World?

Every week on a Friday, children in every year group are exploring in depth a person who embodies our school values. The person studied could be from the past or the present, local or international, young or old, but someone that is perhaps less well-known for their contribution to society; someone who the children may not have usually found out about. Why not ask your child about who they are learning about this half term?
Nursery- David Attenborough
Reception - Jane Goodall

GFPTA Greenfields Sponsored Walk

Next week we will checking the route for the first ever Greenfields and GFPTA sponsored walk- we will be going come rain or shine, so don't forget to start dusting down your wellies and walking boots. All the money raised will go to school. Thank you for your support.

If your child’s date of birth is between 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2017 you will need to complete an application for your child to start Reception Class. You need to make an application through your ‘home’ Local Authority. This is the
authority where you pay your council tax.

All the information you need is available on the North Tyneside website www.northtyneside.gov.uk

If you are unable to apply online you can complete a paper application. These are available from the school office or by emailing school.admissions@northtyneside.gov.uk

Year 1

Year 1 have been taking part in STEMFest 2020 this week with the rest of the school. They have been learning all about the planets in our solar system. Can you name them all?!

2 JI

In Year 2, we have been designing and making our own mountains. We have tried painting them with realistic colours such as brown, which we have mixed red and black to make. Also, we know that it is cold at the peak of a mountain, so we have made light blues and whites for that. We have been amazed!

Year 2 have been reasoning in maths this week. The children are really beginning to understand it's not just important to know something, but you have to be able to use what you know too!

Telephone Parent/Carer Consultations

We wish we could be welcoming you into school as usual for progress consultations with your child's teacher; this year, inevitably things will be a bit different.
This year your child's teacher will telephone you next week to discuss your child's progress. Please make sure you have let us know if there are any times which you are not available to take this phone call via:

strong people

...be amazed...

“Strong people don’t put others down. They lift them up.”

This week tell us about someone you know who is amazing. Can you tell us why you think this? Have they done something special for you, or is it that you just want to tell them how special they are? It could be friend, someone in your family or someone at school.

Reading recommendation

Mrs Cockman has done our reading recommendation for this week.
"I love this book. It's all about a gang of fish who wish they could have a shiny silver fin just like the rainbow fish; but the rainbow fish won't give any of his away. With a little help he learns how to be kind."

Office email for copies of letters or emails that you may have missed or general information about your child’s class:

parentsandcarers@ greenfieldsprimary.org.uk
This email is monitored by a member of the Senior Management Team. Please use this if you have a question or query which is specific to your child. We can then direct your query to the right person within school.

I’m always keen to hear any suggestions or comments about school, so that we can work in the best interests for all the children at Greenfields.

Please do not contact us via the gateway app as this is not monitored and we might not get to your query as quickly as you would like.

Information for Parents

We have had some queries around items included in packed lunch boxes. As you know we are a nut free site. Items of food that state:

"may contain peanuts"

are not permitted in school. Please can you check your child's lunch box carefully. Thank you.
Disabled Bay Parking
We are aware that there are only limited spaces for parking on the school site. Please make sure that you are only parking in the disabled bays if you hold a registered 'blue badge'. Parents/carers not displaying their blue badge will be asked to park in another space. Thank you for your help.
