Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

Mrs Gemma Robertson - Headteacher

Headteacher's Message

Dear families,

Although a short half term, it's been another fantastic one with so many wonderful things happening in school. Not only have the children been working hard across the curriculum, they've also enjoyed lots of enrichment activities. We had a successful sponsored walk, raising an astounding £1516.14, Break the Rules Day was a great success, celebration of learning events this week and Secret Agent training for our Year 2 children.

A huge well done and congratulations to our Year 6 children who blew us away with the effort and resilience they showed during their SATs exams last week. Year 2 are completing their Secret Agent training this week and are working incredibly hard to complete all of their tasks ahead of their sleepover on Thursday.

Once again, I want to say a huge thank you to you all for your continued support. Greenfields wouldn't be the outstanding school it is without you all.

I hope you have a lovely long weekend and we will see you all back in school on Monday 3rd June.

    Kindest wishes

    Mrs Robertson

This half term the children from Year 1 to Year 6 have been focusing on 3D art and sculpture in their Art lessons; I'm sure you'll agree that we have some very talented artists in school.
Muddy Bairns just love being outside, exploring and getting messy.

The children in nursery and reception have been eagerly watching the caterpillars turn in to butterflies. They've learnt so much from watching the caterpillar create cocoons before changing into a beautiful butterfly.
Reception also went on a bug hunt and found lots of creepy crawlies in Forest School.

    Book
A bright, science-minded boy goes to the beach equipped to collect and examine flotsam-anything floating that has been washed ashore. Bottles, lost toys, small objects of every description are among his usual finds. But there's no way he could have prepared for one particular discovery: a barnacle-encrusted underwater camera, with its own secrets to share... and to keep.

    Attendance & Punctuality

    Punctuality-matters
Attendance and punctuality really do matter.
It is well known that good school attendance affects a child’s success in learning and helps to fulfil their potential and give a chance of a better future. Please take some time to read the parent/carer leaflet that was emailed to you this half term and take note of the number of hours missed learning that occurs when children don't attend school or when they are late for school.
Please remember that if you are struggling to get your child into school, ring or email us; we will come to your home to help you to get your child into school.

    BREAK THE RULES DAY

    IMG_7659
What a fantastic time the children had on Friday during Break the Rules Day. Thank you for supporting the day, the children raised an amazing £230 which will go towards the cost of the summer trips the children are having next half term.
    Register for Free School Meals

Please check out if you are eligible to apply for Free School Meals and register even if your child is in Reception, year one or year two. This will ensure your child continues to get free meals in year three and the school will receive extra funding which is directly spent on supporting pupils.
The online form and eligibility can be found using this link https://my.northtyneside.gov.uk/category/238/freeschool-meals or you can go to the North Tyneside Council website and search for free school meals.
