Headteacher's Message
We've had a brilliant start to this half term with plenty going on as always. Parent's evening was a great success; thank you to all who could attend.
Our Geography trips are well underway with Year 1 & 2 enjoying a trip to Wallington Hall and Year 3 & 4 going to Gibside. The geographical fieldwork skills the children have developed on these trips is invaluable. Year 5 & 6 are looking forward to their trip to Cragside next week.
Our KS2 choir took part in the Spring Sing at Whitley Bay Playhouse on the 6th March. They were amazing, wowing the packed audience with their beautiful singing and confident performance.
Even though it's only a few weeks before we break up for Easter, the children still have lots to look forward to including the Dance Festival, a hockey tournament and our Easter activities.

World Book Day
We loved World Book Day! The children enjoyed making dens, getting cozy and simply enjoying the time to read. The highlight of the day had to be when the older children visited the younger children to share books together. Reading is so important and World Book Day is an opportunity to celebrate this.

Our school value of 'Be Original' teaches the children that mistakes are the best lessons learnt. Mistakes should never be seen as a negative, they should be celebrated as a learning opportunity.

Beatrice Bottomwell has NEVER (not once!) made a mistake. She never forgets her maths homework, she never wears mismatched socks, and she ALWAYS wins the yearly talent show at school. In fact, the entire town calls her The Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes!
One day, the inevitable happens: Beatrice makes a huge mistake in front of everyone!
But in the end, readers (and perfectionists) will realise that life is more fun when you enjoy everything—even the mistakes.

Muddy Bairns
Our youngest children really put the muddy in Muddy Bairns this week. They had the best time in Forest School exploring and sliding in the mud - a dirty child, is a happy child.

Attendance & Punctuality
Attendance and punctuality really do matter.
It is well known that good school attendance affects a child’s success in learning and helps to fulfil their potential and give a chance of a better future. Please take some time to read the parent/carer leaflet that was emailed to you this half term and take note of the number of hours missed learning that occurs when children don't attend school or when they are late for school.
Please remember that if you are struggling to get your child into school, ring or email us; we will come to your home to help you to get your child into school.

On Monday 25th March we invite children to bring a decorated egg into school for our Easter Egg Competition. The eggs will be displayed in the school hall until Wednesday 27th March when the school council will select a winner from each class. This is not compulsory but we would love to see as many of you taking part as possible. T On Wednesday 27th March, we are celebrating Easter with Easter discos across the day for each year group. Children can come into school on this day in their party clothes. The cost of the disco is £2 which includes entry, disco and an Easter treat to take home. The parties will take place during the morning followed by Easter crafts during the afternoon.
