Headteacher's Message
What a fantastic term we've had at Greenfields. The children settled into their new classes well, working hard and showing resilience in all that they've been asked to do.
Well done to the school council, Year 6 value ambassadors and sports leaders who are already hard at work making a difference. Thank you to the GFPTA, who have organised fantastic events in school this half term; we can't wait to take part in the events planned for next half term. Thank you to our wonderful families for getting back into good routines and supporting Greenfields to make a difference. We do know the colder weather and coughs and colds at this time of the year can make it more difficult; thank you for all of your efforts.
I hope you enjoy a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 6th November.

Learning Across School
The children have worked extremely hard this half term in all of their lessons. Here are just a few examples of where the children have been putting their learning to the test:
Science experiments in Year 2; how do we get rid of germs?
Forest School with the rangers from Gosforth Nature Reserve in Year1
Using real life objects to understand fractions has really helped the children in KS1 with their maths work.
In Year 3, the children have been reading 'The Accidental Prime Minister'. They've been working hard to write a conversation between Joe and the Prime Minister.

Parent & Carer Reading Helpers
We are on a mission to get all pupils regularly reading every week. In school, we hear the pupils read as often as we can in reading skills sessions and RWI as well as individually. To strengthen our offer, we are calling on any parents and carers who have an afternoon to volunteer to hear readers. No qualifications needed other than a good listener and enthusiasm – we will support you once in school. If you are interested please complete the following link and we will be in touch after half term:

Celebration of Learning and Stay and Plays
Children from pre-school to Year 6 enjoyed showing off their learning to their grown ups this week in our celebration of learning events. It was lovely to see so many of you there.

As you will be aware, the PTA has recently had a reshuffle where new roles were delegated and voted on. We continue to look for any parents and carers across school who'd like get involved. You don't need to commit to helping with every event, any time you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Already this half term, the GFPTA have organised a successful Halloween disco, Rainbow Raffle and 'Break the Rules Day'. We are aspiring to put regular events on throughout the academic year.

The magical story of a young female character, with spectacular illustrations. In the light of a blue moon (the rare occurrence of a second full moon in a month), Maxine discovers something extraordinary in the grass - a moon ring. The ring magically transports her first to the Antarctic, then to the plains of Africa, and finally to the heart of New York City, before returning her to her very own bedroom. Was it all just a dream? Or was the magic of the moon ring real?

GFPTA Break the Rules Day & Halloween Disco
The children had a blast taking part in 'Break the Rules Day' today. I think they enjoyed soaking their teachers the most! And the Halloween Disco was a great success. Thank you to the GFPTA for organising both and making the events so memorable for the children.
