Today marks the end of our first week in school. It also marks a very special first… this afternoon as we came together in our school hall for the first time since March 2020, it struck me that some of the children sitting before me hadn’t ever been in a whole school assembly before; an assembly after all is for most of us, synonymous with school and as vivid a memory as any we have from our primary school years.
It led me to think how many other ‘firsts’ our children, your children have experienced this week…
…first time to have lunch together in the hall
…first time playing together in the ‘big’ yard…
…first time in the upstairs classrooms…
…first day at school…
I could go on. It has made us reflect upon how we can make sure that these ‘firsts’ are special; they set the tone… it is after all, “the way we mean to go on…” If this week is anything to go by, I can’t wait to ‘go on’ into this year!
It is fitting that our school value this half term is …be amazed… your children have been amazing this week.
