Mrs Bank's SENDCo - December Update
As we come to the end of the autumn term, I would like to take a moment to recognise just how hard the children have worked over what is often a very busy and sometimes disruptive period. With rehearsals, performances, visits and special events taking place, the pupils have shown real resilience, maturity and focus. They should be extremely proud of how they have continued to engage positively with their learning while embracing all the excitement that comes with this time of year.
December also saw our annual Inclusion Quality Mark review take place, and I am delighted to share that the assessment went extremely well. The assessor recognised the strong sense of belonging across the school, the calm and nurturing learning environments, and the consistent, rights-based approach that underpins behaviour and relationships. Pupil voice was highlighted as a real strength, with children confidently articulating their views, understanding their rights and responsibilities, and demonstrating empathy and respect for others. We are very proud to have been recommended to retain our Flagship School status, which reflects the commitment of staff, pupils and families to inclusive practice.
Throughout this term, we have continued to prioritise collaboration and learning from others. As part of our Voice21 oracy project, staff have visited two different schools to observe oracy in action. One of these schools had a high proportion of pupils with English as an Additional Language and children with SEND, which provided valuable insight into how oracy approaches can be implemented inclusively. These visits have helped us reflect carefully on our own practice and ensure that our Voice21 work supports all learners to develop confidence, communication skills and a strong sense of voice.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to building on this work in the spring term and continuing to strengthen our inclusive provision so that every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive.
