As a community school, we pride ourselves on the strong relationships we have with our families. We have many opportunities for families to join us at events in school; from helping out on trips, joining us for special assemblies, coming into school every half-term to celebrate learning to school fayres and community events, there is always something to take part in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Country Trust

 

We have a strong relationship with the Country Trust. Each year, every class takes part in a trip to a working farm to learn all about where our food comes from and what farms do to make this happen. This academic year, our Year 3 class have been working very closely with Debbie from the Country Trust on a project which included cooking, gardening, making bird feeders, a visit to the farm and a family feast and market.

Cooking

Gardening

Greenfields now has raised beds with our very own vegetable patch. The children have grown potatoes, lettuce and carrots – we were so impressed! They used their home-grown produce to make food for the family feast and for Greenfields market stall.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Greenfields' Marketplace

Farm Visit

After all of this hard work, we thought the children deserved a trip to a dairy farm. Here they learnt about milk production, the inner workings of a farm and how cows help in food production.

Family Feast

We welcomed our families into school for a family feast where they got to taste our home-grown produce. The children made herby potatoes, various dips, bread and beautiful salads – what a treat!
