At Greenfields, our out of hours provision is run directly by the school’s Governing Body for children from Muddy Bairns through to Year 6. The Out of Hours Manager is Mrs Garnett, who is supported by Mrs Howard, Mrs Gibbinson & Mrs Winter.

Out of hours provision is called “Stepping Stones”. It is also open to our Muddy Bairns children, and the option is available to book on the Preschool and Nursery Booking Forms.

Stepping Stones and Muddy Bairns are open during term time only. Mornings from 7:30 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. and after school from 3:15 pm to 5:30 pm. Stepping Stones staff work as part of the school team to meet the needs of our children and families. All of our staff are fully qualified to work with children and have undergone an enhanced check from the Disclosure & Barring Service.

Children are provided with a variety of breakfast options in the morning and have a home cooked tea in the evening. 

We offer a wide variety of activities including outdoor games, arts and crafts, construction, games and puzzles, imaginary play, ICT, homework and reading area.  In addition to these, there is a planned activity each day which the children can choose to participate in.

All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance. Registration forms and information about charges are available from the school office.

Help with Childcare Costs:

Tax Free Childcare ~ If you qualify for the Government's Tax Free Childcare Scheme you could get up to £500 every 3 months to help with wrap around care costs https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare

Vouchers ~ Many employers have Voucher Schemes, which help with childcare costs. Greenfields are able to register and accept most Voucher Schemes.  Check with your employer to see if they can help with your childcare costs. 

Working Tax Credit ~ The Families Information Service can offer advice and support when looking for childcare.  They have information about Working Tax Credit and North Tyneside Council’s Salary Sacrifice Scheme.  They may also be able to offer advice regarding other ways of gaining support towards childcare fees.  The Families Information Service can be contacted at: Riverside Children’s Centre, Minton Lane, North Shields (telephone number 0345 2000108).
