School Trips
Greenfields boasts an exciting curriculum that focusses on delivering the statutory National Curriculum in contexts that are real and meaningful to our children. At the cornerstone of this is bringing the curriculum to life with ‘real life’ experiences and visits.
Linking with our values, all of our children go on at least six trips each year. Our visits are carefully planned to ensure our children see the very best that our local area has to offer. When we are able to take children on trips in line with government regulations, parents are always welcome to join us.
We always welcome many visitors into school who work with our children in various different ways, for example, Gosforth Nature Reserve Rangers worked with Year 1 to develop our Forest School Area, we had a Poet join us for the day and we have links with Kielder Observatory. Our trips range from visiting working farms, completing geography fieldwork at National Trust venues, art galleries, the Theatre Royal Pantomine and so much more. We are very proud of our commitment to ensuring that each year group (pre-school to Year 6) visits a different place of worship each year. We believe that it is important for children to understand different religions and to celebrate the different faiths we have at Greenfields and in our community.
Our Year 2 children take part in 'Secret Agent' training in the summer term, where they compete assessments throughout the week, finishing off with a celebration and a sleepover in school. Our Year 4 children get the chance to go to Robinwood in November, which is an outdoor activity centre, and our Year 6 children spend the week in Ford Castle in either the spring or summer term.
