Governing Body & Financial Benchmarking

Key Governor Roles :
Safeguarding Governor (Mrs Pauline Pearson)
On behalf of the governing body the Safeguarding Governor works closely with the school’s dedicated safeguarding lead (DSL) to ensure an effective process is in place for the early identification of any welfare concerns about a child, additional needs they might have, indicators of possible abuse, neglect or other safeguarding concerns. The role also includes monitoring of audits and action plans and informing the governing body of findings on a termly basis via full governing body meetings.
Inclusion Governor (Including SEND) (Mrs Samantha English)
The Inclusion Governor gains specific oversight of the school’s arrangements for all children identified as vulnerable. Key to the role is building a good working relationship with the Inclusion Lead (SENDCo) to understand how funding is being used and in particular, what impact this is having on the pupils who receive it, in order to ensure they are making progress and achieving well.
The Inclusion Governor monitors action plans and informs the governing body on a termly basis via full governing body meetings.
Health & Safety Governor (Mrs Tracey Orrick)
The Health & Safety governor, on behalf of the governing body, works closely with the Headteacher and Site Manager, along with the Business Manager, to ensure compliance with the Health & Safety policy. The governor will attend H&S audits, monitor action plans and inform the full governing body on a termly basis.
Pupil Premium & Sports Premium Governor (Mr Anthony McMullen)
The Pupil Premium & Sports Premium Governor liaises with the relevant members of staff and Senior Leadership team to review the strategy, the allocation of funding, the impact of funding and ensures compliance in terms of reporting. The Governor monitors action plans and informs the governing body on a termly basis via full governing body meetings.
Cybersecurity Governor (Mrs Danielle Wright)
Our Cybersecurity Governor liaises with the leadership team, our Computing Lead and our IT Technician to ensure that our school cybersecurity is secure and compliant. She also takes part in auditing our school website to ensure compliance and visits school to complete computing learning walks and pupil voice.
Governor Key Focus Learning Walks
Governors attend “Learning Walks” with leaders on a termly basis. These visits provide opportunities for governors to see the delivery of the curriculum in action and to triangulate the information they receive from leaders in meetings. The learning walks are focused on the School Development Plan.
Financial Benchmarking
Schools Financial Benchmarking
It is the Governing Board's responsibility to ensure that financial benchmarking takes place every year. The Schools Financial Benchmarking service allows you to compare a school or trust's income and expenditure with similar establishments in England.
You can view a school or academy trust's financial data, see how it compares with others and use the information to establish relationships with other schools or multi-academy trusts.
The Financial Benchmarking and Insights Summary replaces Benchmarking Report Cards that were sent to schools previously. This change is part of the recent improvements to the DfE’s financial benchmarking services.
