No silver bullets…

This is the book I’m reading at the moment. I’m enjoying it as its one of those which you can dip in and dip out of when you have five minutes. Each page has a short ‘action’ which schools can take to evaluate what they do to make themselves better, more effective and ensure that they strive for the best outcomes for their children and community.

Action 51 caught my eye in particular;

“…promote a ‘can do’ culture…”

In my mind it is clear that this is talking about every single person in our school community. I think we’re well on our way to achieving this by the way…

When I see the staff working tirelessly to support, challenge and nurture our children; I know there’s a definite ‘will do’ and ‘can do’ about them. When I see the mature and thoughtful appreciation of really complex issues by our Year 6 children; I know that they are the next generation of can-doers. As for our families and community, as you know, I only need the mere whisper for support and it comes to us in spades.

This ‘can do’ attitude in school is lived through our values. As Chloe in Year 2 told me today when she came to show me her ‘Ready for the World’ work,

“…I always try. In fact, I can never stop trying…”

You’re right Chloe! You can!

Well done team Greenfields- have a great weekend and see you all on Monday!
