Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be original, be brave and be bold.

Mrs Ele Dobson- Headteacher
winner
A very big 'well done' to our Muddy Bairns this week who were announced as the winners of the 'unusual container' planting competition together with Food for Life and the Plant and Share initiative.

The children planted a range of delicious herbs to create a fabulous 'herby truck'. It caught the eye of the Food for Life judges, who decided that it was worthy of the £100 garden centre voucher. We will be spending the prize on some outdoor resources to help our Muddy Bairns continue their green-fingered (and muddy-booted) work!

working together

Working together

You may have seen Wendy Burke, the Director of Public Health in North Tyneside, talking on both the local and National news this week about a rise in infections in the North Tyneside area.

Please be reassured that our risk assessment and infection control measures are still very much in place in school. This includes a combination of actions, which, when put together help to keep us all safe.

Please help us by ensuring that you and your families are also helping us by accessing the twice weekly lateral flow tests (LFT) which are now available to all families and that if you are eligible to take up the offer of a vaccination please do so.

If you, your child or anyone in your household develops symptoms, please make sure you book a test and isolate until you have the results.

Please make sure you read carefully in the information that is included in the letter from public health that is being sent out to families today.

Thank you for your continued support, we have worked so hard together

chance

Reading recommendation

"What do you do with a chance?" Kobi Yamada

This is the story of a child who is visited by a chance, but because he isn't sure what to do with it, lets it go. Later on, when a new chance comes around he reaches for it, but this time he misses and falls. Now he is afraid. Will he be brave enough to take another chance when it comes around?

Parking on Taylor Avenue

We are respectfully asking parents and carers to park with consideration in our local streets. Please do be careful not to block the driveways of local residents or to park on the footpaths.

Thank you for your support.
holiday
After the very challenging 12 months we all have faced, I know some families may be looking ahead and thinking about holidays for the future- please see the school calendar with term dates for the academic year 2021/22. Please note the training days when school will be closed to children. We are respectfully requesting families not to book holidays during term time- they will not be authorised. I am sure that you would agree with me; it is really very important that your children are in school for the whole of the year.
