Remembrance Ceremony at Greenfields
All of the children at Greenfields, from Pre-school to Year 6, took part in a very moving Remembrance Day ceremony on Wednesday. We were supported by The Fifth Fusilier Regiment, which made the event extra special.
The children's behaviour was impeccable throughout the service. They acted with real thoughtfulness and respect; a credit to us at school, but to you, their families as well.
A very big thank you to all of our parents and carers who sent in messages for our trees of bravery and hope- I think you'll agree they look absolutely beautiful as you come down the drive.
We closed the ceremony with a very touching poem written by a parent. It meant an awful lot to the staff to receive such support from our parents and wider community; thank you.
I hope you know how brave you are, By stepping foot outside your door,
To face a world that’s different and challenging, Day to day never knowing what’s happening.
You step into school full of wonder and hope, But first things first...wash hands with soap.
Lessons are learnt; not just in class, We know that this too shall pass.
So take a moment to acknowledge your braveness, For all the reassurance and support that you have given us,
You continue each day, you smile and you inspire, Forever grateful I’ll be...for it’s you I admire.

"Together we can change young lives"
It has been fabulous to see the children (and staff) all dressed up today to raise money for Children in Need. This year, the theme of the appeal was "together we can change young lives." I think our Greenfields community has shown that we are able to do this in abundance!
Thank you for your support we raised over £80.

World Science Day 2020
Would you BE BRAVE enough to travel into space?
In Year 5 the children spent Science Day looking at the environments on different planets. The harsh environment of Saturn requires protection from extremes of heat, cold , gases, lakes of metals. These robots have the equipment to survive and gather resources.

...be brave...
“Sometimes you have to stop being scared and just go for it. Either it will work out, or it won’t.”
This week can you tell us or show us something that you have “just gone for”. What were you worried about and how did it work out in the end. What did you learn and would you do it again?
We look forward to hearing all about them! Why not share your stories with us on our social media pages.

Reading recommendation
Miss Evans has done our reading recommendation for this week. Murder Most Unladylike.
"I read this when it was recommended to me by a child in my class and I’m so glad I did! It’s an exciting murder dusters set in a boarding school - and the detectives are two of the pupils! If you like this on there are several more in the series to keep you going!"
