Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

Mrs Gemma Robertson - Headteacher

Headteacher's Message

Dear families,

As we come to the end of another academic year I want to say a huge thank you to you all. We couldn't do our job without the unwavering support we get from you and we are extremely grateful for that. Each and every one of your children are a credit to you; we are so proud of all they have achieved.

This half term has been extremely busy with trips, sport's day, celebration of learning, transition and meet the teacher. Year 6 have enjoyed some extra treats having performed amazingly well in their SATs exams. They also wowed us with their end of year performance.

As a school, we received our best results to date in all of the key assessment areas; Reception Early Learning Goals, Phonics Check, Year 4 Multiplication Check and end of Key Stage 1 and 2 assessments.

We hope you all have a lovely summer and we look forward to welcoming you back on Wednesday 4th September 2024.

    Kindest wishes

    Mrs Robertson

    Greenfields Community Hub

We are excited to announce that in the Autumn Term we will be opening our very own Community Hub. Our hub will have a food bank, a clothing swap shop, baby and toddler groups, a warm space and various community groups for anyone in our local community to access. We are busy making this dream a reality and will be working hard over the summer to get everything ready. It is really important to us that our Community Hub, not only serves our families but anyone in the local community. With this in mind, we'd love to hear what you think; do you know of a specific need in the local area? Have you got ideas for groups we can run? Can you volunteer at our hub or know anyone who would like to? Please complete the following Google Form to let us know your thoughts:

We are hoping to have a grand opening in September so look out for further information in the new academic year.

    Summer Term Trips

    EYFS beach trip
Our lovely Early Years children enjoyed a fabulous day at the beach where they splashed in the sea, made sandcastles and played games.
    Adventure Valley
What an amazing day our Year 1 & 2 children had at Adventure Valley and they certainly didn't let the rain stop them! They had a tractor ride, met lots of animals, went on the go-karts and burnt off some energy in the soft play.
    Beamish
Our Year 4, 5 & 6 children had a great day at Beamish. They explored lots of different areas and even managed a ride on the tram.
    Year 6 forest school
It's been a very busy half term for our Year 6 children. Not only did they go to Ford Castle at the tart of the half term, they also went swimming, had a very rainy day in Forest School, went to the cinema and did lots of rehearsing for the Leaver's Show.

    Book
Every evening, from the time she was a child, Maria Mitchell stood on her rooftop with her telescope and swept the sky. And then one night she saw something unusual—a comet no one had ever seen before! Miss Mitchell’s extraordinary discovery made her famous the world over and paved the way for her to become America’s first professional female astronomer.

This is a moving picture book about a girl from humble beginnings who became a star in the field of astronomy. It is sure to inspire budding scientists everywhere.

    The Star Awards

Our amazing Rose was nominated by her class teacher Mrs Wilson for a Star Award and was invited as a finalist to St James Park for a night of celebration. We are so proud of Rose; she really is a superstar.

    Sport's Day

    Sports day
Our Sport's Day was a huge success and the sun shone. It was fantastic to see so many of you here and as always the parent's race was a hit with both adults and children - thank you to our brave participants.

    Year 5's Trip to NGA

    NGA
Year 5 had the opportunity to join other local primary schools in an afternoon of sports at North Gosforth Academy. They did so well and came out on top, winning the days events - amazing!

    Kielder Observatory

    Kielder
At the start of July Kielder Observatory brought their planetarium to school for our Year 3, 4 & 5 children to experience. The children and staff loved it and couldn't believe they got to experience what they did in the school gym.
