Supporting the children of Wideopen to be amazed, be brave, be original and be bold.

Mrs Ele Dobson- Headteacher

"...everyone can play..."

musi 1
This week we invited musicians from the North East Music Foundation into school as part of our "...everyone can play..." commitment.

In KS1 the children were fascinated to hear a variety of woodwind instruments and find out a little bit more about how you play them. In KS2 we came together to learn about piano playing and guitars.

We have sent home a letter to allow you to express an interest in learning how to play a musical instrument in school.

We will be offering penny whistles and recorder lessons in KS1 and keyboards and ukele lessons in KS2. We have lots of instruments in school, so don't worry if you don't have one.

Make sure you send your letters back to school!
drama

No dramas at Greenfields!

Next week our children in are going to begin a series of drama workshops starting with Year 1. We are very lucky to have Stephen from Act2Cam to lead these sessions for the children. Act2Cam is a company who specialise in running drama classes and film camps for children at various venues
across the North East.

Stephen will also be running an afterschool drama club for children in Year 5 & 6 from 3:15pm-4:15pm on Wednesday evenings. Please make sure you have returned your letter if you would like to attend.

REMINDERS...

Jewellery
Please be reminded that children should not be wearing any jewellery in school. This includes earrings. Clear plastic retainers for pierced ears are allowed. Staff will ask your child to remove their earrings if they are wearing them in school on the grounds of health and safety. Please can you help us by making sure that your child has removed their earrings before coming to school. We do have a small stock of clear plastic retainers for parents if you require them. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Collection and Drop Off
Please be reminded that unless your child is in Y5 or Y6, they should be dropped off and collected by an adult.

If you give your child permission to leave our site without an adult please complete the google form which can be accessed here:
https://forms.gle/NUoUKtyoKDhK3NY19

Please do not leave your child to wait at their door before our staff have opened it to welcome children. You must inform us via the office if the collection arrangements have changed for your child. We cannot accept another parent informing us that they are collecting your child at the end of the day. Thank you.

Payment for School Lunches
We have been contacted by a number of families unsure about the new North Tyneside payment system for school lunches. Joinos has been replaced by parentpay.

We would urge all of our parents to register with parentpay by emailing: parentpay@northtyneside.gov.uk (even if you are entitled to free school meals / universal infant free school meals) as this is not only an online payment facility but an important form of communication with the catering team at the Local Authority.

We are also aware in the roll out of this new system, some parents have received letters requesting payment. If you have any questions or queries relating to this please do get in touch and we can direct you to the correct department to help you.
Thank you
