SPORTS DAY 2021

We all know that sports day this year didn't involve our families in the way we all had hoped it would. However, I hope you enjoyed watching the videos and looking at the fabulous pictures of your children having the best day on Wednesday. The children excelled themselves and you will have seen the smiles and laughter permeated the day.

An enormous thank you to all of our families for you support.

On the plus side, it does give all of you adults a little bit more time to keep practising ready for the families vs staff race next year!

There are lots of pictures and videos on our Twitter and Instagram page!

Keeping safe

We are all very aware of the increasingly rising rates of infection of the new 'delta' variant of COVID19 in our area. Please can you make sure you help us in school by continuing to test yourselves using the Lateral Flow Testing kits.

It is important that if a member of your family or a close contact tests positive and your child develops symptoms whilst they are isolating, you let school know so that we can carry out our risk assessments of close contacts.

We have worked so hard together and managed through this most testing of years by supporting each other, I have every faith that we will get through to the end of the term with as little disruption to the children as is possible.

We sent out a letter to parents explaining how certain in school events will be running. Please do be aware that although it is our best intentions to contune with these events, they may be cancelled at short notice depending upon staffing levels.

Thank you for your continued support.

Wow and WOW!

I don't there was a child who didn't leave our school on Tuesday who hadn't been amazed by the gymnast Jayden Paddock who visited school. Thank you for your kind sponsorship for the afternoon of circuits, which the children completed amazingly well, despite the very warm weather.

This year there has been limited opportunities for our GFPTA to raise funds for our school. Please help them by joining in with this fabulous raffle. I don't think I have ever seen a bear quite so big, which has been very generously donated to us by one of our parents.

Look out for the the posters in and around Wideopen!

Exciting news!

We know that for many of our working parents, finding quality childcare for your children which is local and where you know your children will be happy and safe, during the school holidays can be challenging.

We might be able to help!

If you would like to register your interest for our new service, please make sure that you have completed the form and returned to school so that we can begin to contact those families who would like to use our service.

September 2021

You received a letter this week which explained the class organisation for September:

Nursery - Miss Cheel (Early Years Leader)
Reception - Mr Halliburton
Year 1 - Mr Irving
Year 2 - Mrs Wilson (Lower School Leader)
Year 3 - Mrs Cockman (Assistant Headteacher) & Miss Harrison
Year 4 - Mrs Armer & Mrs Banks
Year 5 - Mr Coverdale & Mrs Robertson (Deputy Headteacher)
Year 6 - Miss Evans & Mr Lumsdon

We will be holding our transition between classes outside where possible to help maintain our bubbles but also to ensure that the children do have the chance to meet their new teachers.

There will be the opportunity to speak with your child's new teacher before the end of term. You can help us to plan for the transition by completing the transition information form and returning it to school.

Thank you

quotes

...be bold..

Sometimes we all make mistakes. What matters is not what we did, but what we did next. Our school value of ...be bold... is all about defining your own future.. Don't let a mistake or a lapse of judgement define who you are.

Reading recommendation

"You are a Champion" by Marcus Rashford

This week I have borrowed a reading recommendation from one of our Year 6 pupils. He has been reading this book- its on my summer list Lucas!

"This book explains how Marcus Rashford became a successful footballer and all of the life lessons he was taught which helped him along the way.
There are 8 chapters based on different things that helped him and will help you on your journey. Personally, I would say my favourite chapter is ‘You are a champion when you are being you’ which is the first chapter.
My rating for this book is 10/10 and I would recommend it to everyone who needs a boost of positivity. Like Marcus, this book can help you become a champion."

On Monday 28th June we will be having Michelle Fowler photography in school to take an end of year class photograph.

If your child is in 5EE, we are looking to see if Michelle has an alternative day for this class.

If you do not want your child to appear in the class photograph, please can you let us know by emailing the parents and carers email address before 9am on Monday morning.
