Greenfields' Summer of Adventure
We have started this term true to form.. with a fabulous adventure to Druridge Bay in Northumberland. School staff and staff from High Borrnas Outdoor Educational Centre in the Lake District treated the Year 6 children to orienteering, (revisiting the map reading skills we learned in the Autumn Term) team beach games, beach combing, fire building and popcorn making (and eating!) on the beach.
This begins our adventure term for all children and giving our children a chance to really experience our ...be bold... value.
Every class will be taking a visit to Powburn Scout Centre in the Ingram Valley in the last two weeks of term; we only hope the weather is as good for them!
Well done Year 6, the High Borrans staff commented on your enthusiastic participation, your polite and courteous behaviour but best of all your passion for an adventure!

Special Birthday!
This year marks the 1500th birthday of St Columba; our special church in Wideopen shares his name. St Columba was quite a trail blazer in his time. He is most famous for establishing an abbey on the remote island of Iona in Scotland.
In many ways Columba shared the same values as we do in school. To...
To celebrate and commemorate his birth there will be the opportunity for children to find out more about this special man and have a slice of cake in the grounds of St Coumba's Church on Saturday between 10am-12noon.

Exciting news!
We know that for many of our working parents, finding quality childcare for your children which is local and where you know your children will be happy and safe, during the school holidays can be challenging.
We might be able to help!
Please look out for the letter going home to families on Monday to give details of a holiday provision in our Stepping Stones and Muddy Bairns beginning in September 21.

Part of having an adventure might mean that you have to put yourself out of your comfort zone. Can you tell us about a time that you have had to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
