Pre-School

Staff  – We have two highly experienced staff in our Pre-School, making it an excellent choice for your child. The Pre-School Manager is Miss Robinson and the Pre-School Teaching Assistant is Mrs Welsh.

Their relationship with the children in their care is one of warmth and fun, and at the same time they are sensitive to their needs and moods. There is a well planned settling in period, ensuring your child will be happy and comfortable in their care and you will be at ease knowing they are safe and well cared for.

Pre-School Curriculum – We aim to give your child a head start in learning through play. Our staff are highly trained in supporting your child’s learning and development.

We believe children learn best through play based, open ended opportunities. We have created an environment which supports the three prime areas of children’s learning at this age, communication and language, physical, and personal, social and emotional development. We also take into account the children’s interests and play patterns. We are lucky that within school we have extensive grounds and a strong tradition for outdoor learning which we use to our advantage. We are also able to provide a strong nurture based experience that can support with developmental milestones, such as, toilet training. We like to keep you informed of your child’s progress and ways in which you may like to support your child at home, through regular information sharing sessions.

Pre-School Organisation – We offer a choice of two sessions, mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., or afternoons from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.

For a large part of each session, children will choose their own activity and high quality interactions will take place between your child and staff, who will support their learning. There are daily stories, rhymes and songs built into the routine as well as outdoor play. During each session, your child will be offered a snack of milk/ water and fruit.

Admissions – Your child is able to start at our pre-school setting in the term after their second birthday. The admission process is similar to our Nursery, please complete an admission form and staff will notify you when a place becomes available.
