Our Reception children all work together in one Early Years Reception Unit. Their teachers Mr Halliburton and Miss Cheel are outside before and after school every day.

The Reception curriculum is based around the seven areas of learning in Early Years:

• Communication and Language
• Physical Development
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding of the World
• Expressive Arts and Design

We follow the children’s interests and develop the learning environment regularly to ensure the children are challenged. Each half term we look at a different Enquiry question. You can see the Reception curriculum plans by clicking on the link.

We follow the “Read Write Inc.” scheme for phonics and therefore your child has opportunities to read every day. At Greenfields, we also encourage reading for pleasure.
