Welcome to class 2AC!
Our class teacher is Miss Cheel. If you have any questions or you would like to talk to her about anything, she is on the KS1 playground before and after school every day.
In 2AC we all have a love for learning and are always trying our best to achieve our potential.
Last term in English we read ‘Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens. We started by making predictions about the story and thinking of questions we would like to ask Scrooge. We then made our own story about Scrooge and the Angel Gabriel, where we added conjunctions and expanded noun phrases. At the end we wrote diary entries pretending to be Scrooge.
We enjoy our Enquiry lessons, especially the question ‘What if Meerkats lived in the North Pole?’ We came up with lots of questions, then explored them throughout the half-term. We also looked at animals that live in a hot or cold place and we even created our own animal on 2simple called the ‘Crococameliger’, we then had to describe it and think about where it would live.
In Science we looked at the question ‘What if polar bears lived at the Equator?’ We learned about food chains and we even made our own on a chain – we could all talk about the producer and consumers and even what the arrows showed. We have also been learning about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and we sorted these in a venn diagram in the gym.
In maths we really enjoy a challenge. We have looked at all operations – addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and know all the different methods for each one. We also have lots of fun in maths – when we looked at fractions we made our own pizzas, following instructions to cover our pizza with the correct fraction toppings.
To find out what we are learning about each half term, the Year 2 curriculum plans can be found here.
Each half term we have a learning reflection event to celebrate the work we have been doing. Our parents and carers are invited into school so that we can show them what we have been learning.
Parents and carers in 2AC are also connected to school through ‘Seesaw’. This means that they can enjoy watching their children’s progress every day.
In Year 2, we also work on developing good learning habits. You can see our Year 2 Learning Habits here:
Important things to bring to school:
