Class 2W

Welcome to Class 2W
Mrs Wilson is our teacher and she is available on the playground every morning and every afternoon if you would like to talk to her or have any questions. If you would prefer to talk in private, just ask Mrs Wilson for an appointment before or after school.

In 2W we always strive to have a ‘Growth Mindset’. We are developing into persistent and resilient learners, who understand that our intelligence is growing all of the time when we are learning.  Mrs Wilson always tells us her favourite word is ‘yet’.  If we can’t do something she’ll say “Don’t worry, you just can’t do it yet”, but she will always help us to achieve with hard work and effort.

We recognise that by making mistakes, we can learn new things and when we find something hard, we just see it as a challenge, and an opportunity to learn something new.

The children have enjoyed working through their targets and using their learning habits to be positive, reflective, co-operate, wonder, show resilience, question, connect and apply their learning.  In 2W the children choose their own Maths and Literacy targets. When they demonstrate them consistently they get to put their football in the goal.  Before half term, we worked so hard in Maths that everybody achieved their target. We were all so proud!

To find out what we are learning about this half term, our Curriculum plans can be found here.

Each half term we have learning reflections to celebrate the work we have been doing. Our parents and carers can come into school and we show them what we have been learning. Parents in 2W are also connected to Seesaw. This is new for 2016/17 in key stage one and the parents are enjoying watching their child progress, on a daily basis.

We also do lots of extra curricular things.

Important things to bring to school:

Water Bottles – children can bring their own water bottle into school and leave it by the sink in the classroom. Please make sure that water bottles only have water inside.

Reading Folders – Your child needs their reading folder in school every day. As well as a reading book, there is also the opportunity to take library books home each week.

PE – In 2W our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on these days. PE kit consists of a white t- shirt, black shorts and sand shoes.

Homework – Homework will be sent home every Friday and needs to be completed and returned to school by Wednesday morning.  Spelling test is also on a Wednesday.
